会议简介

　　本次会议面向从事水资源开发、管理、水污染、城市环境管理、水-岩相互作用、与地下水有关的地质灾害及城市环境保护等学科领域的科研及工程技术人员。会议拟在武汉举行，着重交流水资源开发与城市环境、水文学、水文地质及其与地质灾害等有关方面的应用与基础研究成果。

3．水供应与公众健康

4．水资源管理：科学的、社会的和经济的视角

5．地质工程和建筑问题

6．废物管理和利用

会议安排： 2003年10月18日-19日

　　包括应邀主题发言，论文宣读及论文或成果展示。在会议期间安排一次考察，重点考察武汉市水水供应与城市环境保护。

　　会后安排另一次实地考察，并就考察路线（三峡地区）中有关水资源开发利用与环境问题开展专题讨论。

论文出版

　　会议的论文集（详细摘要）将在会议举行前出版。通过审查评选的论文将在会后全文以专辑的形式出版（国际期刊）。

Introduction

The International Symposium aims to bring together researchers and engineers working on diverse spectrum of subjects including the exploitation and management of water resources, water pollution, urban environment management, water-rock interactions, geohazards related to groundwater and urban environment protection. To be held in Wuhan, the symposium emphasizes applied and fundamental researches of the exploitation of water resources and the urban environment, hydrology, hydrogeology, geohazards, and other related aspects.

Scientific Program： October 18—19, 2003

The program will include invited key-note speakers, oral and poster presentations as well as a mid-session field trip.

A special workshop on the exploitation and utilization of water resources and environment problems of the Three Gorges Region will also be held during the post-session field trip.

Field Trips: Mid-session field trip: Water supply and waste water treatment of Wuhan city

Post-session field trip: The exploitation and utilization of water resources and environment protection of the Yangtze River Catchment.

Publication

The Proceedings (extended abstracts) of the symposium will be published before the symposium. Full-length papers, following selection and normal peer-reviewing , will be published soon after the symposium in a special issue of an international journal.

Registration

A second circular and registration will appear on our homepage on the World Wide Web: http://www.cug.edu.cn/HE2003.html in September, 2002. The last date for submission of manuscripts (extended abstracts) is May 30, 2003 and accepted papers will be published; proceedings will be supplied at the conference.

The registration fee which includes the published proceedings and conference dinner will be about US$200. Student and accompanying member registration will be half price.

Working Language

The working language of the symposium is English.

Venue and Accommodation

The sessions will be held in the Academic Exchange Center of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). A wide range of accommodation is available in Wuhan from University guesthouses to international standard hotels. Individual prices range from US$20 –US$150 per person per night.
